Skinpotions Tomato Serum Review

I'm quite ashamed to say that I do not have a lot of local skincare products and makeup in my stash. Although, I have been using Belo Essentials Pore Minimizing Facial Wash since I was 19 years old, I feel like I have not been exploring our local brands enough.

When I was starting to look for skincare products that are affordable, I found a Filipino brand in BeautyMNL called Skinpotions. I learned that one of their holy grail products is their Tomato Serum. And since I am a sucker for serums, I immediately bought one to test it out.

Skinpotions Tomato Serum

I learned that this product was once called Tomato Juice Serum. This serum has claims to brighten the skin, reduce the appearance of pores, revives skin's Ph balance and fights inflammations like acne. This product is advisable for combination to oily skin-type.

Key Ingredients: It has tomato and aloe vera extracts which are rich anti-oxidants.

  • Tomato extract - It naturally has lycopene which minimizes collagen breakdown and helps balance skin PH levels.
  • Aloe vera - An ingredient known to have anti-inflammatory properties.

Application: After my favorite toner (or sometimes essence), I get two pumps of Tomato Serum and apply evenly on my face and neck. I wait for few minutes before I go on with my skincare routine.

ThoughtsOne thing likeable about the brand is its eye-catching kawaii-themed packaging. Even their website looks pretty. The product did not come in a dropper bottle unlike most of the serums I see in the market, instead it is packed securely in a 30ml container with a pump. I was expecting that the serum would smell like tomatoes because of the product name and surprisingly, the scent is far from it. In fact, the serum smells like candy. I was also expecting the consistency of the serum to be runny but it turned out to be very viscous, almost paste-like. It's a bit sticky after being applied to my face but the tackiness wears off.

One of my main skin concern is my pores and unfortunately, it did nothing on mine after using this serum for a month. Once again, please do not take it on the product because I am already on my 30s and we all know that age and environment play a big role on our lovely pores. But looking on the bright side, this serum really brightens my skin. No break-outs happened while using this product and it also moisturizes my face without the heavy feeling. I'm thinking that maybe it was exactly formulated for a Filipino skin who everyday battles humidity.

I bought this product for P295 - very inexpensive for a serum.

Will I buy this again? Yes!
